Welcome to Year 4 filled with exciting topics and experiences. In Year 4 you will continue to strive to succeed and will be encouraged to preserve at all activities. Children are encouraged to be active learners and engaged in lessons developing positive attitudes towards learning as they progress in the journey. Each morning children will have morning tasks which involve a variety of fluency questions as well as multiplication facts.

In Maths in Year 4, we work with concrete apparatus; solve problems and investigate maths in the real world. By the end of the year we will expect every child to know their 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10, 11 and 12 times tables. Throughout the year children will explore these topics:

Addition and Subtraction
Area
Multiplication and Division
Length and Perimeter
Fractions
Decimals
Money
Time

Reading and Writing in Year 4 consists of a variety of different text types including poetry and digital literacy. Children will engage with the same text in both lessons to ensure children are fully immersed into the texts. Children will have a range of writing types based on the different texts and within the writing sessions, children will explore the structures and techniques that have been used.

Year 4 have PE on a Thursday and children should come into school in their PE Kit this day.
