Welcome to year 3’s class page. Year 3 is filled with amazing topics for children to demonstrate their excellence, from learning about the stone age in history to testing what materials are magnetic in Science.
We want all children to be curious learners, who test out their thoughts and ideas. Everyone is expected to strive to reach their full potential and show tenacity when they are faced with challenging work and questions.
Each morning children will take part in a range of activities, following the National curriculum objectives. Our day begins with Maths, where children have access to concrete materials and are extended with reasoning and problem solving questions. In reading, children will answer questions from a range of books from The Iron Man to Cliffhanger. In writing, children will learn and apply key grammatical skills from the year three curriculum, writing diaries, letters as well as writing their own cliffhanger stories.
Our afternoons consist of a range of subjects from RE to Art, where children learn and develop key skills and knowledge within that subject. A subject such as RE is taught for a whole week to completely immerse children within the topic.
Our PE day is Wednesday. Children can come to school in their PE kit.
Homework is given out to children on Friday and expected to be returned no later than the following Thursday.
