Curriculum Areas
At Featherstone Academy, we offer a broad and balanced curriculum that builds knowledge, deepens understanding and develops essential skills. Our aim is to inspire curiosity, creativity and a lifelong love of learning.
Our curriculum meets and exceeds National Curriculum expectations, ensuring pupils make strong progress across all subjects and achieve at least age‑related outcomes by the end of Key Stage 2.
Personal development is central to our work. Guided by our STRIVE values and Greenheart’s Being, Belonging, Becoming principles, we support pupils to grow into confident, resilient and responsible young people who contribute positively to school and the wider community.
We recognise that children learn in different ways, so our curriculum blends independent tasks, collaborative learning and active, hands‑on experiences. Vocabulary development and enrichment are prioritised across all year groups to meet the needs of our community.
We ensure pupils have:
-
Rich vocabulary experiences
-
Opportunities to express their voice and influence decisions
-
A wide range of enrichment activities
-
Active, engaging learning
-
Support to build confidence and self‑esteem
-
Positive role models
-
Skills to form healthy relationships
-
Awareness of future opportunities
