Our Provision
Welcome to EYFS at Featherstone Primary Academy. Our dedicated team of practitioners consists of Miss Holmes and Mrs Bennett. Across our EYFS, all staff contribute to developing a nurturing environment where children feel secure, valued, and prepared to embrace the positives as well as the challenges during their journey throughout school. Our team within EYFS prioritise a holistic approach to learning, placing both continuous and enhanced provision at the heart of our practice.
In Reception, we embrace child-initiated learning both indoors and outdoors, providing your child with a wealth of opportunities to grow and learn through play. Our phonics instruction follows the Read Write Inc. scheme, which will support your child’s phonics skills and writing development throughout the year. Additionally, we incorporate Talk Through Stories to enrich story time, fostering a lifelong love of reading and expanding vocabulary.
At the beginning of the year, we focus on learning All About Ourselves—exploring our likes and dislikes, our families, where we live, and much more. We also celebrate a variety of events and traditions throughout the year. In the Spring and Summer, our learning expands to exciting topics such as fairytales, space, and the deep sea, among others, sparking curiosity and creativity in every child.
