Little learners is the foundation of our Early years unit and we welcome children from their second birthday. Our staff team is made up of Mrs Harvey, Miss Hagan and Mrs Gamble.
Children can attend Little Learners by either paying for sessions or by using one of the many funding methods we accept. We can offer places for children who qualify for Think2 funding, Working parents 15 hrs funding, Working parents 30 hr funding and 3 yr old NEF funding. We understand this can be daunting for any new parents who have never had to deal with the funding options but Mrs Harvey can happily talk you through these options and support your application where possible.
Little learners is set up across 2 playrooms and a secure outdoor playground. The rooms are arranged in a way, which allows the children to access all seven areas of learning throughout their play with Free flow continuous provision.
Staff build good bonds with the children and we teach in the moment by getting involved in their play and offering extensions and resources to further develop their interests and to teach them new skills when and where possible.
We have a long term plan for activities and cover topics such: My family and me, People who help us, growing etc. However, we use this very flexibly and will change or adapt our ideas to go with children’s interests and ideas.
Observations are taken throughout the day on the children while playing and completing activities of their choice. These observations form part of the children’s learning journey and allow staff to track their progress in all seven areas of learning. These learning journeys are shared with parents during parents evenings.
